Katia Arroyo

Dr. Katia Arroyo-Carrión, affectionately known as Dr. Katia or Dr. A, is a bilingual licensed clinical psychologist who brings a deep sense of cultural attunement and warmth to the world of mental health. As the founder of Reflection Psychology and the creator of The Relational Trauma Therapist, she has dedicated her life to making complex psychological concepts feel accessible and human. Katia is a person who values the power of connection and the resilience of the human spirit, especially when it has been tested by destabilising life experiences.

In her personal philosophy, Katia views healing not just as the absence of symptoms, but as the restoration of self trust and the ability to feel safe in one’s own skin. She understands that navigating the aftermath of narcissistic abuse or relational trauma can leave a person feeling exhausted and disconnected, and she shows up as a grounded, compassionate ally for those trying to find their way back to themselves. Whether she is creating educational content for her community or working 1:1, her goal is to help individuals reclaim their boundaries and reconnect with their inner stability.

"I have spent so much time and effort training in therapies that have been thoroughly researched and obtained positive outcomes" - Katia Arroyo

Work with Katia

Dr. Katia Arroyo-Carrión is a specialist in the treatment of relational trauma, narcissistic abuse recovery, and complex relationship dynamics. With a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and extensive experience across outpatient clinics, state hospitals, and Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers, she provides a high level of clinical expertise to those struggling with emotional exhaustion and the long term psychological effects of harmful relationships. Her work is uniquely focused on the intersection of psychological healing and nervous system regulation, helping clients understand how trauma physically alters their sense of safety and attachment.

In her practice, Katia utilises a diverse toolkit of evidence based, empirically supported therapies to guide her clients toward recovery. She is expertly trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), as well as specialised frameworks like Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR) and Integrative Behavioural Couples Therapy (IBCT). By blending these clinical modalities with psychoeducation and practical somatic tools, she helps adults dismantle destructive patterns, rebuild self confidence, and develop a more regulated, resilient nervous system. Katia’s approach is collaborative and trauma informed, ensuring that every client has the structured support they need to move from survival to sustainable emotional wellbeing.
